For a very specific use case of Linux x86_64 only, how about the following hack to update the "repositories" file manually and doing an update, before proceeding?
This should update all OS packages and thereby keep the scanning tools happy !! 😉
FROM node:8-alpine
# HACK: quick hack ?!
RUN sed -i 's=/v3.*/=/v3.10/=g' /etc/apk/repositories
RUN apk -U upgrade
...

We upgrade alpine when there's a new version of node released, so it doesn't change for the same version of node

be0fbed and c66340c didn't update. Should I open a PR?

We need to bump the version in the config file but the change will only get picked up on next release.

OOh, I get what @SimenB said, nevermind.

Merging this #1026 might allow us to support more versions of Alpine though.

Could you reopen this until this is fixed?
Debian has been upgraded to Buster in docker-library/official-images#6357, but Alpine is still on 3.9.
