Do not run tests when only documentation is changed #4859
changed the title [-]Do not run unit tests when only documentation is changed[/-][+]Do not run tests when only documentation is changed[/+]on Mar 25, 2026
Hello @alexander-alderman-webb, I would love to take this on!
the test workflows all run through the single test.yml orchestrator but we can't add paths-ignore to its pull_request trigger because it will block merges (test.yml holds check-required ("All tests passed"), and if the whole workflow is filtered out that required check never reports)
I think we can add a small files-changed job and put needs: files-changed + if: ${{ needs.files-changed.outputs.code == 'true' }} on each group job. Skipped groups report skipped, which check-required passes in that case.
I would love your feedback ^^
