Dexcom connectivity problem #2630

Describe the bug

These observations all apply across multiple pods and dexcoms. Since the update that was made to improve the 203 faults (sorry don’t remember the number) our dexcom connection has become unreliable. It will not show readings in loop despite having readings in dexcom. Readings may be gone for 10 minutes or sometimes hours when intervention isn’t possible. Deleting the G7 and rescanning for it does not help neither does closing loop or restarting the phone. Turning on silent tune does help but phone battery drains in 4-5 hours so this is not a sustainable solution.

Phone

  • Hardware: iphone13
  • OS Version: iOS 26.5

Loop Version
3.14.11(35)

CGM
Dexcom G7

Pump
Omnipod Dash

Additional context
Thankfully we never experienced a single 203 fault but the new loop seems to be causing this problem

Thanks for the detailed report. I've gone through every change between 3.14.9 and 3.14.11. The 203 fix only changes how Loop handles the pod in the background on iPhone 16 and 17e, so on an iPhone 13 it shouldn't affect the G7. To work out what's happening, could you:

    1. During or just after a gap where Loop is missing readings that the Dexcom app has, go to Settings → Support → Report a Problem and send a report to the developers. Please mention this issue (Dexcom connectivity problem #2630) in it.
    2. Tell us which Loop version you were on before 3.14.11.
    3. Tell us which Pod Keep Alive option is selected in the pump settings when you are not using silent tune.
    4. Tell us whether the gaps happen mostly while the phone is locked or asleep, and whether the Dexcom app is still installed and receiving readings when they happen.

    1. It might be a little while before I can do this because I have to get her phone at a quiet moment but I will try.
    2. Previously we were on 3.14.9 and it happened then also. I believe it was fine in the version before that but I can’t be certain because I only started paying attention once it was annoying enough to get noticed!
    3. in 3.14.9 we tried the “when open” option and that didn’t allow us to stay connected. In 3.14.11 the only other option is disabled and with that selected we lose the connection.
    4. Dexcom app is still installed and always receiving readings. I haven’t observed a difference between when phone is in use or when locked/asleep. It definitely loses connection when locked because one night she turned off silent tune after I went to bed to save battery and when I woke up there had been no data in loop for four hours (Dexcom had data).
