Live Activity fails to start on Personal Team builds because pushType: .token is requested without APNs entitlement #2532
Loop 3.14.8 Live Activity does not appear at all when the app is built with a free Apple Developer / Personal Team account.
Xcode debug output:
ERROR: Error while creating empty live activity: The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.ActivityKit.ActivityInput error 0.)
The built app has NSSupportsLiveActivities = true, the Loop Widget Extension is embedded and signed correctly, and the app/widget App Group identifiers match.
A Personal Team build has no aps-environment entitlement.
initEmptyActivity currently calls:
Activity.request(..., pushType: .token)
Changing only:
pushType: .token
to:
pushType: nil
allows the Live Activity to be created and work normally.
This suggests Personal Team builds cannot create the activity when Loop unconditionally requests a Live Activity push token. A possible fix would be to fall back to pushType: nil when push-token creation fails, or conditionally request .token only when APNs is available.

Additional context
My developer account was paid years ago but is not anymore. I can sign an app for a year but can't add the push notifications, Siri, etc capabilities.
